I don’t remember when I first heard the song, “Let There Be Peace on Earth” but I do know that it changed everything for me. More than anything else, this is what I wanted for not only myself but also for every single person in the world. I learned the words quickly and picked up on the melody and find myself humming it at the least likely moments. If you are not familiar with this song, I have included the lyrics here for you:“Everyone, in every country in this land, needs peace in their lives in order to just survive all of the things that are happening.

Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth
The peace that was meant to be.
With God as our Father
Brothers all are we.
Let me walk with my brother
In perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me,
Let this be the moment now.
With ev’ry step I take
Let this be my solemn vow;
To take each moment and live
Each moment in peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.
Although I learned this song so many years ago, it seems more appropriate in our lives than ever. Everyone, in every country in this land, needs peace in their lives in order to just survive all of the things that are happening. They need to know that there are others who do think and live their lives with the hope that peace will be reached for everyone and that we can live our lives with the belief that we can all have the lives that we want for ourselves if we just allow for it. None of us have the same experiences on which to build our present life so how can we tell each other what to do and what to say and how to think as it is truly our unique experience based upon what we have been taught and learned and experienced over so many years of living.
Therefore, I would really ask you to think about these words and to become one of those who chooses to become a part of a growing community that respects and loves and appreciates everyone else who they meet to be able to live the life that we deserve. It doesn’t cost anything! There are no groups to join and you don’t have to ask what you need to do to make things better for yourself and for the world. More than anything, just live the lyrics of this song and know that you are participating as a shining example for everyone around you to be a better person and hopefully they will respond in the same way. You can make a difference if you choose to do so and you can begin right now.
