“Big Man on Campus” Raising Funds for Breast Cancer Research

I recently received a most interesting email from a young man of which I would like to share a portion here:

“Hello, My name is Matias De Rada and I am a senior here at Indiana University. This year I had the privilege of working with Zeta Tau Alpha, a sorority that puts together a philanthropy called Big Man On Campus to raise money for breast cancer research and awareness.

I can’t begin to tell you how awesome I think this video is and the message that these young college students are sharing as well as the efforts that they are making to raise funds for not only the support of their information programs but also for the research programs that are being financed on their own campus. The mission of Zeta Tau Alpha’s philanthropy, Big Man on Campus (BMOC), is to be a source of information regarding all aspects of breast cancer, from prevention to survivor wellness, as well as providing prospective donors with the information they need to realize the importance of their contributions. In addition, as a non-profit charity event, BMOC serves as a source of contribution itself, as the women of Zeta Tau Alpha collect contributions from family, friends, strangers, and peers, which are donated to Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation’s Think Pink and the IU Simon Medical Center.

This year I produced a video to kick off ZTA’s Think Pink month with a “Who Do You Fight For?” theme to show how much this philanthropy means to Zeta Tau Alpha”.

I must make it clear that I do not know Matias or any other student at Indiana University and have no affiliation with this sorority. With that said, I can’t begin to tell you how awesome I think this video is and the message that these young college students are sharing as well as the efforts that they are making to raise funds for not only the support of their information programs but also for the research programs that are being financed on their own campus. All of the funds that they raise go directly to their “Think Pink Foundation” and the Indiana University Simon Medical Center.

I am so impressed with the efforts being made by the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority sisters at the Indiana University and those of Matias De Rata who not only made this great video but is also working to reach out on social media to help the sorority to raise funds.

I know that everyone is asking for financial help, particularly at this time of the year but if you feel that you might be in a position to make a contribution, you can do so by clicking on this link. It is my fondest hope that we might be able to let these students know how much we appreciate their efforts by making a donation, no matter how great or small it may be. It is the acknowledgement of their efforts that is of most importance.
