Where Do We Go From Here in the Breast Cancer Community?

As Breast Cancer Awareness Month ends and I have watched what has happened over the last two years in the world, I thought it was time to take a look at the purpose for this website and the evolution of Let Life Happen in its nearly 14 years of existence. What started out as basically a journal and weekly blog site from a two-time breast cancer survivor has changed greatly over time but its basic mission has never changed and that is to bring information and inspiration to the breast cancer community. And while the “information” aspect has grown and evolved, it appears to me that the “inspiration” may have diminished more than I would have liked. Therefore, I have chosen to make a few changes in this arena to provide more support to that goal and purpose.

“The bottom line mission will always remain to inform and inspire others on all levels “from diagnosis to forever” in order to enhance the doctor/patient conversation and to empower patients and those that support them in all decisions that they are making in order to produce the best outcomes possible for the individuals seeking this guidance.Barbara Jacoby

On the site, the “Paid Opportunities for Cancer Patients and Caregivers” will remain exactly as is. This  feature is opened to all types of cancers, not just breast cancer, but emphasizes the value to me of having the input from those who have been diagnosed and beyond to share their real-life experiences and to be compensated for the expertise that they bring to all of us. And starting on May 22, 2021, we added “Let Life Happen – THE MUSIC” to the blog site for free access and listening whenever one chooses as this was the name selected for the site that sprung from our original 15-song CD that has provided inspiration to others for nearly 20 years.

For the two daily features, “In the News” and “Clinical Research News”, these two have now been rolled into one daily “In the News” feature and the “Clinical Research News” feature has been replaced with a new daily feature titled “Thought for the Day“. These posts will be sourced from a variety of places and appropriately credited as is everything else on the site in an effort to help to inspire all of us, even for a few minutes at the very least, to focus on something positive to which we can turn, especially during some very trying times that we all experience at one time or another.

All of the past posts from blogs to daily postings have been archived on the site as well for your convenience. All one needs to do is go to the “Search” block on the home page and type in the key word(s) that you wish and you should be able to access all of the content available on that topic. And for those who wish to contact me directly for help, I am always available for private exchanges at: barbara@letlifehappen.com.

It is my greatest hope that the changes that have been made will enhance your experiences on the Let Life Happen website as we move forward. The bottom line mission will always remain to inform and inspire others on all levels “from diagnosis to forever” in order to enhance the doctor/patient conversation and to empower patients and those that support them in all decisions that they are making in order to produce the best outcomes possible for the individuals seeking this guidance.
