The app was created in partnership between BodyMind Sessions and CancerCare. It is available now foriPhone and iPad. An Android version is in development.
BodyMind Sessions, in partnership with CancerCare, has launched a free new app called “CancerCare Meditation” that aims to help people affected by cancer manage the symptoms of treatment, release anxiety, achieve deep and restful sleep, and maintain emotional balance.
The CancerCare Meditation app is available now in the Apple App Store, and will be available soon in Google Play. Android users can sign up to get notified of release details as they become available.
The app features a large library of guided meditation sessions from more than 50 renowned meditation teachers, inspirational talks, and education webcasts that address the needs of people with cancer, along with over 100 hours of soothing music and relaxing nature sounds.
According to the National Institutes for Health’s National Center for Complementary and Integrated Health, mind-body therapies such as meditation have been shown to help people who suffer from cancer symptoms and treatment side effects relieve anxiety, stress, fatigue, general mood and sleep disturbances, which ultimately improve quality of life.
“At CancerCare, we understand that a cancer diagnosis can bring up a range of emotions and experiences,” commented Patricia J. Goldsmith, CEO of CancerCare. “Our new app offers many ways to relax, from soothing meditations to inspirational talks, and also helps people deal with stress as they wait for treatments or test results.”
