CHARLOTTE, NC – “I hope everybody will join the Uptown Charlotte Race for the Cure on Saturday, October 3rd,” said Brad Keselowski, famed stock car driver and recipient of NASCAR’s coveted Sprint Cup Series Championship.
Registered participants in the Komen race will receive a coupon for two to attend NASCAR’s Drive for the Cure 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday, October 9. Keselowski won the race in 2014.
“Events like these help raise awareness and money for the battle against breast cancer,” said Keselowski, a NASCAR Xfinity Series Champion.
Race for the Cure and Drive for the Cure are sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina.

In 2014, Komen Charlotte Race for the Cure raised $1.5 million, enabling Komen Charlotte to grant $1.1 million to fund 17 community health programs. These programs are providing thousands of women and men with life-saving breast health screening, education and treatment support throughout the year.
A maximum of 75 percent of net proceeds stays in the local community to fund community health programs in a 13-county service area. The additional 25 percent of net funds supports the Komen Research Program, which funds major research projects across the country, including breast cancer research at North Carolina universities.
The Komen Charlotte Race for the Cure® is presented locally by Novant Health and Mecklenburg Radiology Associates.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
