If you are like me, at the time that I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I knew nothing about any of my options about treatments and was in no position to have a conversation with my medical team on any level. Therefore, I just blindly followed the direction of my various medical professionals without hesitation. Now, there is so much information available from so many sources that one hardly knows where to start looking in order to even decide what questions to ask or know whether what you are learning is even information that you can trust.
“As I cruised around the new version, I found that I could not find a better way to tell you about all of the wonderful new features that are now available to you. Therefore, I just encourage you to download the app for free and find out for yourselves.”Barbara Jacoby
As a result, a year ago, I was ecstatic to share with everyone that a new, free app, the Breast Advocate® app, was being introduced that I shared with everyone that covered everything that I called from “diagnosis to forever”. And now, I am even more excited to share with you the newly updated Breast Advocate® app. Please allow me to share the following from their latest news release about the update with you here:
“A leader in breast cancer treatment education and shared decision-making, Breast Advocate® is excited to announce the release of our updated app! We are extremely thankful to our users for providing the valuable feedback that has helped us make our app even better. The latest updates greatly improve user experience and navigation, and give the innovative app a fresh new look. Users can now customize the content they see on their dashboard via a personal feed, and easily find specific content using our optimized search engine.
Co-created by breast cancer specialists and patient advocates, the Breast Advocate® app provides those with breast cancer, a history of breast cancer or at high risk for developing the disease a much needed voice in their treatment decision-making.
Should you have a lumpectomy or mastectomy? Should you have prophylactic surgery? Should you go flat or have breast reconstruction? If you want reconstruction, what type is best for you? Should you have gene testing? The Breast Advocate® app can help with these questions and much more.
The groundbreaking Breast Advocate® Wizard walks users through a detailed questionnaire to better understand their personal situation and outcome goals. Our proprietary software combines evidence-based treatment options with the user’s preferences to create customized treatment recommendations that are in line with the user’s specific needs. Breast Advocate® empowers users with the knowledge needed to fully discuss their treatment plan with their medical team and ensure they make the best decisions for them.
Users also have access to the latest expert opinions, published studies, helpful resources, and a community ready to provide support.”
As I cruised around the new version, I found that I could not find a better way to tell you about all of the wonderful new features that are now available to you. Therefore, I just encourage you to download the app for free and find out for yourselves. And I do want to send out a special “thank you” to Dr. Minas Chrysopoulo who made this possible for all of us! We are grateful to you so much more than we can possibly express in words for giving us this fantastic tool to facilitate our doctor/patient conversations.
