Inspiration Time

Sunrise 4866193 300x217 Inspiration TimeAh, the weekend!  Here it is, Saturday morning and I don’t have to get up at any particular time.  Some people might think that I am lazy for not getting up and “doing” tons of things before the day goes by but I have learned something else that is far more valuable to me.  I know that this is the most important time of the week for me as it is what I call my “inspiration time”.  It is that quiet time when I don’t think about anything else in my life but allow for ideas to come regarding topics for the radio show and ideas for my weekly blog, ideas for new projects, solutions to situations in my life, etc. And if nothing in particular comes to mind, that’s okay as there is always Sunday morning, too.

No, I did not just create “inspiration time”.  It evolved from my experiences starting many years ago when I would wake up on Sunday mornings and the lyrics for what would become the songs that are on the “Let Life Happen” CD would burst forth and I would have a complete song written in 20 minutes.  At the time that I received the inspirations, I had no idea what would become of what I thought at that time was poetry.  But when I shared the “poems” with Kirk, he was inspired to write the music that would create the songs, even though he had never written music before.

I think the most important thing that has come from my “inspiration time” is the fact that if we want to be creative and inspired in our lives, we have to allow time to be just that.  For so many years, it seems that I had to be constantly busy in order to feel like I was making the most of my time.  But when I constantly planned every moment and when I filled my every free moment with some outside activity, I never had the opportunity to listen to what was available to me on the inside.

Inspiration does not have to come from some sorts of special meditation or special diets or altered states of mind.  All you have to do is find some quiet time, make yourself comfortable and enjoy the moment.  Just allow yourself the freedom to let your mind take over.  If what comes to mind is some sort of situation that you are dealing with in your life, ask yourself how you can make things better, or what you need to do to take away the stress or ask for some direction to a resolution.  If nothing comes to mind, that’s okay because the resolution may come to you at another time and in another way.  Just making yourself open to change will bring opportunities to improve yourself and your life.

It may seem strange the first time that you allow yourself the freedom to take time for yourself in this way, especially if you fall asleep and feel as though you have accomplished nothing.  But that is definitely not the case.  Sometimes the mind takes over and gives you exactly what you need at that moment and that is a break.

For instance, if something happens that affects us negatively, we use our mind to just keep reliving the moment or the incident over and over and over without directing our thoughts to a way to either deal with or resolve the matter.  So we need to allow ourselves an opportunity to direct our thoughts differently in order to find peace for ourselves or to be inspired to a solution.  And just remember, an answer or a direction or an idea will always present itself as long as you keep yourself open so that you can see it when it presents itself.

How do you get your inspiration. COMMENTS

I believe in time for yourself to do whatever you want to do. If it’s just chilling out, relaxing or meditating, so be it. Nobody says you have to work hard all the time. I think my husband believes that people need to be doing something all the time. I like to just experience things in life. I don’t have an inspiration time. But I love that you do. After working hard all week, you definitely earned time to do whatever you want to do. The time you spend creating your blog and your radio show, help so many other people. So to me, your inspiration time is actually very productive. It just might not look that way. I think the only time I feel bad about just hanging out and relaxing, is when it’s so beautiful outside and I don’t go out and do something in the sun. But sometimes I don’t get out there and I feel like I wasted a day that was beautiful. I never like doing that. Thanks for sharing so much of yourself with us. You are beautiful!!

    Blessings,
    Mandi

Thank you so much for your comments. Talk about someone who is beautiful! There are none that can beat you in that arena. I know that you are always so very busy doing and helping that I can scarcely keep up with you sometimes. I am glad that you do take some time for yourself to relax and hang. I do that, too and enjoy watching TV, etc. However, unless I set aside quiet time to allow the heart to take over my mind, I find that I spend all of my time reacting to outside forces rather than tapping into my own reservoir of creativity. That is just something that I need to do while I am sure that you and many others tap into your own creative side without having to do it in the way that I do.
