You definitely don't have to have a psychology degree to help others. When you experience something horrible and then come through to the other side, you have the wisdom of life experiences to help others. That to me is worth more than a psychology degree. I know my therapist understands me and helps me a lot. But unless she has experienced some of what I've been through, she can only imagine how it feels. I think your wish to help others is a wonderful gift to everybody that you touch in life. As you said, things have a way of working out when you least expect it. So maybe in time you will find the answers. Thanks so much for sharing your life with me. I appreciate all of your encouragement and words of wisdom.

Dear Barbara,
Upon reading this article/blog, you have inspired me as well. I have often told my family and friends that the one thing in life I would love to do is to help at least one person.
Barbara, I can see myself in your writing. My problem is that I still lack the confidence to step forward. Not only that, stepping forward means changes. My EXCUSE I often use is that I simply have too much going on and absolutely no time!!
My inspiration also comes from knowing that God has given me a gift to write, experiences to share, and so forth.
My hope for you is that you will experience the joy of doing what you want. Experience has taught me that some of the ways we are called to do what we want may not be what we thought we wanted to get there.
Anyhow, I just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed reading this piece and to encourage you to keep reaching for your goals!!! Thank you for sharing!
Sincerely,
Shirley
